5/28 Omar
Omar’s
lecture was very different and unexpected, since normally, videos in class do
not take 15 minutes to view. Also, he did not cut around like how we used to
watch videos in class, I thought it was good, but maybe he could pick out the
good things from the video and cut to them directly. I really like his example
of decoy, it made me understand the concept more from seeing how it is applied.
However, his other concepts like tactics and counter hegemony felt rushed, and
I would really appreciate examples for those. His example of calling himself
Timothy McVeigh is very similar to the idea of everyday resistances, where he’d
resist the racist hegemony in calling him a terrorist for being brown by
telling a relevant joke based on a white terrorist.
