5/25- Merchant Of Cool

"Merchant of Cool" was a fascinating documentary, albeit a little old that let audience takes a ride behind the scene of advertising and the mainstream media that is targeted towards the teenager. One thing that I find very interesting is that how when something is made cool it will eventually go out of style and therefore there are dedicated people who work for a living finding new trends. One can relate this to the culture of the second generation of Asian American where the parent's culture can be considered something that is cool back in the day of their past; however their son/daughter find it uncool and unfit for them, therefore they follow their own culture. This, of course, rouse the parents who want their kids to follow in their footstep and therefore force their "traditional" culture onto them. As such the child would resist with a culture that is created by their own hand.
