5/23 Rodriguez
In
this week’s reading, Rodriguez discuss about the gender, sexuality, culture and
race relating to car industry. For example, the Mexican lowriders emerged in
the post WW II era increased the supply and demand of cheap and used car market
in automobile industry. Therefore, the ethnic and racial expression could
affect the global economic and auto market. In the beginning of the article,
Rodriguez uses the four main characters in one of my favorite film fast and furious series to analysis the
gender differences and culture influences. Furthermore, he thinks that cars
play an important role in the U.S economic and speed up the business circle in
the markets. I agree with that because own a car means you’re closely achieving
the American dream. Thus, people (not only Americans, but also Asian Americans)
are likely to buy a car in order to get into this American culture. Another
interesting point that Rodriguez mentions in this article is that the
comparison of Japanese car and American car. Japanese Automobile Corporation
designed smaller car with greater fuel economy and cheaper price compared to
American Local auto Corporation, Japanese cars such as Toyatas, Mazdas and
Hondas immediately compete and cutting into all Maerian industry. I can see a
lot of Japanese car when I am driving in the highway.
