5/2 Deporting Cambodian Refugees
This
article highlights the political issues that existing in Cambodian refugees’
community. Kwon mentions that these refugees have struggle with working and
living conditions in the United States. Many of them are forced to deport from
the U.S. to their home country and the rest of the refugees and their next
negation that still live in the U.S make very low incomes and have low social
class. I think that the society treats them unequally because of their identity
and skin-color. This article is similar with the Laotian article;
Asian-immigrants or minority do not have a lot of power in the society and they
have to work very hard to blend into the new culture ad maintain their life in
a new environment. As a result, the minority starts to do some resistance in
order to gain attention and support from the society. Before I read this
article, I have never think about the deportation and refugees’ situations. But
I think no matter what political standard is, people should be treated equally.
Therefore, the society should pay attention to the minority community and
reduce the unequal power phenomenon.
