5/18 Roy/Kelly Loves Tony
The article by Roy talks about the queer communities and the effect of the Internet on such communities. Generally, Internet is such a wonderful thing to have. People can communicate with others in matters of seconds over very large distance. It is as easy as ever to get in contact with friends, families or even people with the same interest. I think online community is a wonderful thing. As a person who spends a lot of time in those communities, I feel like it is a safe place to talk to other people with the same interest as you. However just like the article mentioned the Internet is a double edged sword. There are a lot of toxic people in communities that I am in. The elitist who think that their opinion is superior and flame on others opinion. I believe that online communities are very useful, but one must take caution while using them.
From what I’ve seen so far of “Kelly loves Tony”, I think it is a very endearing and personal documentary for Kelly ad Tony. The documentary portrays the life of Kelly and Tony and their struggles. Kelly is somewhat of a rebellious daughter who opposes to a lot of the Mien view force onto her by societies. From the small things like not taking the ginger tea after giving birth to bigger things like going to college even when she has a baby at home. She is a very strong woman who thinks for herself and ignores what negative comment comes her way. The documentary also portrays the struggle of Tony, who grew up in a gang because it is normal to do so where he lives. As the result of this, he might be deported for the crime that he committed during his youth.
