Week #3 Betrayal, Class Fantasies and the Filipino Nation in Daly City
This article only goes
into Filipino struggles and how Filipinos are perceived as a whole by American society
when the issue is much more relatable to more Asian Americans and Asian
immigrants. Many Asian immigrants come to America looking for a better life and
once they adapt to America they send money back to their home country. There’s
nothing wrong with that. That’s more relatable to immigrants as a whole than
just Filipinos. Although, it is interesting how Filipinos are one of the most know
Asians for immigrating. They’ve set a standard here and a life for future
generations to come. Also, the perceptions made about only Filipinos is more
relatable to all Asian Americans. Not knowing your native language, being rude
to adults, being spoiled are common misconceptions all Asian Americans get not
just Filipinos alone.
